I met Jillian and Charles for their engagement session on a crisp and beautiful late fall day at Lee Martinez Park in Fort Collins. It was obvious at once they would be an incredibly fun couple to photograph. They had so much chemistry and Jillian had so many great ideas for photos (I especially love the blanket she brought along). It’s so much fun to see the creativity that couples come up with for their photos.
The engagement session laid the foundation for their wedding photographs just ten months later. They decided on an amazing location: The Island at Pelican Lakes Golf Club in Windsor, CO for their ceremony and reception. The party started early in the day as Jillian and Charles got ready for the ceremony in different parts of the venue with their closest friends. These really are some of my favorite photos to take: the couples spend time with their family and friends while they’re getting ready. It’s such a great way to get to see their relationships with those they’re closest to. Over the years, I’ve heard some of the silliest and funniest stories told during these hours. It really is an amazing opportunity to spend time with these folks before all the formality of the ceremony starts.
The ceremony was perfect and the reception went late into the evening as everyone partied inside and under the stars. We were able to sneak outside for some sunset and night photos by the lake. I always try to encourage couples to take 10 minutes during the reception and head outside for night photos; it offers the couple a little break from the reception and the photos are often some of the couple’s favorites. Jillian and Charles, thanks for letting me be a part of your special evening! What a treat to meet such an amazing couple and their family and friends and watch you begin what will surely be a long and happy marriage.
