I recently was fortunate to shoot a wedding for yet another amazing couple here in the Front Range. Callie and James chose to have their winter wedding at the Lionsgate Event Center in Lafayette. Surrounded by family and friends, their ceremony started just before sunset in the intimate and beautiful Chandelier Barn. We headed outside for portraits immediately afterwards. Their ease in front of the camera and with each other made the session incredibly easy, it’s clear to see they’re a perfect match! I would’ve liked to have 2 hours (instead of 20 minutes) for their portraits. But we were able to get most of the family portraits done before the ceremony, so when it was time for Callie and James photos we had some beautiful late day light to work with.
The guests moved into the beautifully decorated Gate House for the reception. I’ve been fortunate to see a lot of things in wedding receptions over the years, but the incredible fire show by Callie and her friends was definitely a first for me. I could tell I wasn’t alone: all the guests were spellbound. The cannabis-friendly party probably would have lasted all night and came to an end much too early, which is the way it is with so many weddings - you think you have so much time and before you know it the night’s over. Thanks so much to Alaina Reis at Lionsgate for her incredible planning and work throughout the night, and especially to Callie and James for letting me be a part of their incredible wedding. I wish you much joy for your marriage. I know that given your creativity, fun-loving spirit, and the support of your amazing family and friends, you have a wonderful start on what’s sure to be a long and happy marriage.
